Porcelain tiles tend to be made from a more refined and dense clay and fired at much higher temperatures which eradicates almost 100% of the moisture content of the tile. Using a denser clay does mean that Porcelain Tiles are much more heavy weight than its ceramic counterparts, but you will find over time especially they are much more hardwearing.
